Abstract:Addressing the need for efficient and low-cost monitoring of train operational safety, this study leverages the practicality of ground-based testing methods to design a low-power wireless wheel-rail force monitoring system based on ZigBee technology. Focusing on key wheel-rail dynamics parameters, the system establishes the correlation between strain and wheel-rail force, integrating data acquisition modules, a solar power unit, and upper-computer software into a cohesive ZigBee-based wireless monitoring solution. This enables remote, real-time, and low-power acquisition of wheel-rail force data. Validation tests for accuracy and stability, along with field line trials, demonstrated that both the relative error and full-scale error of the monitoring data were below 2%, confirming good measurement precision and reliability. Field test results further showed that the C60 train model operated within safety limits, verifying the system"s feasibility in real-world applications.
