Aiming at the problems existing in the current measurement method of light gas projectile, a more reliable speed measurement method for light gas projectile based on the matching of high-speed photographic image template is proposed. By setting up a high-speed photography plan in the launch test of the two-stage light gas gun, the target of the projectile is matched and the pixel position of the template is obtained by using the obtained high-speed photograph, and the projectile velocity is obtained by computing .The results are compared with those obtained by laser velocity measurement method and meet the test requirements. It is proved that the method can be used independently as a means of measuring the velocity of light gas gun projectile and can provide an effective check for existing test means.
